Small Business Success Stories

Mississippi Power recognizes the significant contributions of small businesses in our communities in Southeast Mississippi. Here are a few of the many success stories of small business owners that have taken advantage of our Commercial Development Program:

Front Street Eats Restaurant Group owner Nelson Haskin

Front Street Eats Restaurant Group

Located in Hattiesburg, restauranter Nelson Haskin is no stranger to success nor is he a stranger to taking advantage of Mississippi Power’s Commercial Development Program. Nelson opened his first restaurant in 2017 to serve downtown Hattiesburg and has since morphed into Front Street Eats Restaurant Group that is comprised of six eateries in downtown Hattiesburg. One of his restaurants, Bourbon on Front Street, was able to utilize Mississippi Power’s Commercial Development Program to assist with building improvements. Additionally, all of his restaurants within the Front Street Eats Restaurant Group have taken advantage of the Small Business Redevelopment Incentive which provides essential savings to the operational costs for the businesses.

"Mississippi Power has proven to be a valuable partner to small businesses owners like myself. Since opening my restaurant in downtown Hattiesburg in 2017, they have been there offering unique programs to provide savings to our business along with real incentives that help generate income for growth and sustainability. I look forward to working with them on many more projects in the future."

Downtown Pascagoula Hotel

Hotel Whiskey is the newest boutique hotel that will be located in downtown Pascagoula. The entire mixed-use development consists of two phases which will include a 30-room hotel with short-term rentals, apartments and a swimming pool facility. This mixed-use development will be a first of its kind for downtown Pascagoula. The developer was able to utilize Mississippi Power’s Commercial Development Program and Energy Efficiency Program to assist with a feasibility study and reimbursing expenses for environmentally-friendly products such as the GAF solar roof and Tesla chargers.

“I wanted to express our sincere appreciation for Mississippi Power’s support of the Hotel Whiskey Project in Pascagoula. Your commitment to sustainability is truly commendable, and we look forward to continuing our partnership.”
